Lyn Kirkham joined the Auckland Heart Group as General Manager in February 2005, bringing with her 14 years of private and public health sector experience at senior management levels. She has a well developed sense of what is needed at the primary care / specialist interface having worked in both primary and secondary/tertiary areas.

Prior to joining the Auckland Heart Group, Lyn was employed by the Waitemata DHB initially as Project Manager for the establishment of the Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) in that catchment, then as Service Manager for Medical Services and the Emergency Care Centre (ECC) at North Shore Hospital. At this time Waitakere Hospital was opened extending the Medical and ECC services for the North and West Auckland population.

Lyn developed her interest in cardiology as Service Manager for the Adult cardiology service in the Auckland DHB at the time when the cardiology services of Green Lane and Auckland Hospitals were merged and moved to the new Auckland City Hospital site in Grafton.

In the primary care sector, for five years, Lyn was General Manager of the Takanini Care and Counties Care Accident & Medical Clinics, and played a pivotal role in establishing the Counties Care clinic in Papakura in 1997.

Lyn has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in management. Her personal interests include her two adult children, travel and photography, NZ art, books, pilates, fishing and most water sports.
