Malcolm Legget trained in cardiology at Green Lane
Hospital and
at the
University
of
Washington,
Seattle.
From
1995-2000 he
was Director
of
Echocardiography
at Green
Lane
Hospital,
and is now a
consultant
cardiologist
at the
Auckland
Heart Group
and Auckland
City
Hospital.
He is also
an Honorary
Senior
Lecturer in
Medicine at
the
University
of Auckland.
Malcolm has
been
instrumental
in the
introduction
of CT
coronary
angiography
into
clinical
practice in
New Zealand.
His special
areas of
interest are
in the
treatment
and
prevention
of ischaemic
heart
disease, and
in the
management
of valvular
heart
disease.
He is
currently
involved in
establishing
the only
private
percutaneous
aortic valve
replacement
programme in
New Zealand,
through
Mercy
Angiography.
Malcolm has
co-authored
a best
selling
textbook on
transoesophageal
echocardiography
and has
published
widely on
echocardiography
and valvular
heart
disease.
He was
awarded the
degree of
Doctor of
Medicine in
2008.
He is an
investigational
cardiologist
performing
coronary
angiography
and has
expertise in
echocardiography
(including
stress and
transoesophageal
echo), and
CT coronary
angiography.
He is
actively
involved in
research in
these areas.
Malcolm
is dedicated
to the
provision of
high quality
comprehensive
cardiac care
and has
spent the
last eleven
years
developing
this passion
through the
Auckland
Heart Group.
