Niels van
Pelt is a
consultant
cardiologist
at
Middlemore
Hospital,
Auckland.
After
completing
cardiology
training in
Auckland, he
worked as a
clinical
fellow at
Middlemore
Hospital
before
taking up a
fellowship
in
non-invasive
cardiac
imaging at
the Thorax
Centre,
Rotterdam,
the
Netherlands.
In Rotterdam
Niels
developed
his
subspecialty
interest
in computed
tomography
(CT)
coronary
angiography.
In addition
to his work
as a
clinical
cardiologist
he is
involved in
research
into
valvular
heart
disease and
cardiac CT.
Areas of
clinical
interest and
expertise
include the
modification
of cardiac
risk
factors, the
management
of ischaemic
heart
disease and
cardiac
imaging,
including
echocardiography,
cardiac CT
and
diagnostic
coronary
angiography.
