Jane trained
as a general and
obstetric nurse
at the
Palmerston North
Hospital School
of Nursing, then
worked in
Palmerston North
as a staff nurse
in CCU and ICU
for the next
three years. She
subsequently
worked for four
years outside
the hospital,
first as a
practice nurse,
then as a
district nurse.
Jane and her
husband, Lester,
came to Auckland
in 1984
following the
birth of their
son Chris. She
has worked part
time in CCU at
North Shore
Hospital ever
since. In that
CCU role she has
trained other
nurses to
perform exercise
testing at
Waitakere
Hospital, and
was Acting Team
Leader of the
Cardiology
Procedures
Department at
North Shore
Hospital.
In addition to
her hospital
roles, Jane
worked on a
casual basis for
Ted Clarke and
Kevin O’Brien
from 1995 until
the formation of
the Auckland
Heart Group.
Currently she
does three days
per week at
North Shore
Hospital,
alternating
between CCU and
the Cardiology
Procedures
Department, and
works the rest
of the week as a
cardiology nurse
for Malcolm
Legget and Nezar
Amir.
Jane completed a
post graduate
course in
Coronary Care
Nursing at
Greenlane
Hospital 1987.
Further training
has led to a
Certificate of
Health Sciences
in Cardiac
Nursing at the
University of
Auckland 2004,
and Health
Assessment of
Adults through
Christchurch
Polytechnic in
2007.
Jane has a
particular
interest in the
nursing aspects
of exercise
stress
echocardiography,
transoesophogeal
echocardiography
and tilt table
testing.
Away from the
workplace Jane
enjoys tramping,
skiing, golf and
music. She and
Lester are
members of the
Alfa Romeo
Owners Club and
the Sunbeam Car
Club, and enjoy
“classic car
weekends away”.
