Nursing Staff

Barb - Cardiology Nurse

heart Barb has been with the Auckland Heart Group since 1996.  She is a registered nurse with extensive nursing experience.  These areas include Medical, Coronary Care, Intensive Care and Emergency nursing.

Barb assists in a range of procedures including exercise testing, exercise stress echocardiography, dobutamine stress echocardiography, ECG's, Holter ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and patient education.

To keep fit, Barb enjoys swimming.  She is a lover of hot weather; she describes herself as a 'hot house plant'!


ChiChi  - Cardiology Nurse

heart Chichi came to New Zealand from China in 2000 as a international student. She completed her nursing training through University of Auckland (UoA), and became a registered nurse in 2006. Since then, she has worked in Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardio Thoracic Service Unit (CTSU), and Cardiology in Auckland City Hospital. While Chichi is working full time in the hospital, she completed her Master of Nursing at the UoA in 2012.
In order to experience cardiology in different settings, Chichi joined Auckland Heart Group in April 2013 in a part time capacity.
Chichi's interests include playing table tennis, walking, cooking and reading.


Elizabeth  - Cardiology Nurse

heart Elizabeth qualified as a Registered Nurse (RN)   in 1972, after training at Greenlane Hospital, where she received a thorough understanding of cardiology.    She has worked overseas in paediatrics, returning to Auckland Hospital, first in Older People's Health,   followed by 13 years as a Supervisor on night duty.     Elizabeth returned to cardiology in 1994, continuing her night duty in the Coronary Care Unit. 

Elizabeth joined Auckland Heart Group in May 2013 in a part time capacity to expand her cardiology knowledge and experience cardiac care within the private sector.   Elizabeth manages to find time to fit her work around her love of reading, tramping, photography and travelling to new places and new experiences.



Helen - Cardiology Nurse

In 1977 Helen qualified as a registered general and obstetric nurse at Waikato Hospital, and in 1981 she completed the Green Lane Hospital coronary care unit (CCU) course.

She is an experienced cardiology nurse. She began her cardiology work at Waikato Hospital CCU in 1978. Then over the years, she worked in Middlemore Hospital CCU, Waikato Hospital cardiac catheter laboratory, Rotorua Public Hospital CCU and intensive care unit (ICU), and Auckland Public Hospital Department of Critical Care (DCC). More recently Helen has worked at Mercy Hospital CCU with extra experience gained in pre and post operative cardiac surgery (including ICU).

At the Auckland Heart Group, Helen works with the cardiologists performing exercise treadmill tests, stress echocardiography, Dobutamine stress echocardiography and ECG's.

Helen has studied and passed some papers at Massey University with an emphasis on quality assurance and research.  In 2011 Helen completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Science at Auckland University.

Helen also has a boatmaster's certificate and enjoys fishing and kayaking in the waters of Auckland and the Bay of Islands.


Jo - Cardiology Nurse

heart Jo trained at Waikato Hospital and gained her very extensive nursing knowledge by nursing at the Te Kuiti, Blenheim and Taupo Hospitals before transferring to Greenlane Hospital.  Jo has obtained a post -graduate Diploma in Health Studies and attended various Cardiothoracic Courses.  Work placements have included the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Auckland City Intensive Care Unit (ACICU) prior to taking up the role of after-hours supervisor of Cardiac Services at Greenlane Hospital.  Jo has travelled extensively overseas continuing her nursing profession in Saudi Arabia (cardiac), South Africa (cardiac), England (neuro intensive care and Accident & Emergency) and Australia (cardiac).  

On her return to New Zealand she currently works part time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Middlemore Hospital and joined the Auckland Heart Group in June 2013 nursing at their rooms in the Ormiston Hospital.

Jenny E - Cardiology Nurse

Jenny is a Registered Nurse with more than thirty years experience in cardiothoracic and cardiology nursing. Her roles have included Clinical Charge Nurse of Coronary Care Units  in South Africa and Mercy Hospital Auckland and Nurse Educator of resuscitation and cardiology for Waitemata DHB.
Since joining AHG she leads the CT angiography clinic as well as supervising and assisting with other cardiology investigations. She also is nurse educator, CPR instructor and the Health and Safety coordinator.
In her spare time, Jenny spends time with her family walking, gardening, travelling and reading.


Jenny R - Cardiology Nurse

Jenny completed her nursing  training in Zimbabwe. After an OE which took her to nursing positions in London, she returned home to take up various positions over the years including urban and rural GP practices, Pediatrician, Obs and Gynae, and even a short time as a dental nurse. When her children were small she managed a wholesale plant nursery to allow her more time off. 

After immigrating to NZ 12 yrs ago, she worked in a cardiac/medical ward and in the Cardiovascular Unit at North Shore Hospital where she gained experience in angiograms, angioplasty and insertion of pacemakers.
Jenny's role at AHG is to assist the cardiologists with Exercise Stress Testing, Stress echo's, CT angiograms, Holter monitors, Blood pressure monitors and ECG's.

Jenny’s interests include swimming, walking, sewing and watching most sport.


Oksana - Cardiology Nurse

Oksana began her nursing career in Russia and the Ukraine, training in Moscow, before moving to Argentina with her family in 1995. In Buenos Aires she not only learnt to speak Spanish (to add to Russian and English), but also gained a Certificate in Management.

Oksana and her family came to New Zealand in 2000, and she began working as a staff nurse at Green Lane Hospital in 2001, after gaining the necessary NZ nursing qualifications. She is fully registered with the NZ Nursing Council. She has extensive cardiac nursing experience, particularly in the areas of heart failure, diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, and care of patients pre- and post-cardiac transplantation.

She has continued her nursing education with post-graduate study in evidence based nursing, cardiac nursing and health assessment at the Auckland University Nursing School, together with hospital study days, cardiac conferences and Nursing Council forums.
Oksana, her husband and two teenage children are happily settled in Auckland after their wanderings. They enjoy living close to Cornwall Park, and morning walks around the mountain.

sandra -nurse

Sandra - Cardiology Nurse

Sandra completed her nursing training at Wellington Hospital and has worked at Greenlane, North Shore and Auckland City Hospitals.  Her nursing experience in these hospitals added to her 20 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Nurse in the private sector.  Sandra joined the Auckland Heart Group in July 2012 and focusses her attention on the company’s heart monitoring service which includes ECG’s, Holter and Ambulatory Blood pressure monitoring supported with patient education. Sandra enjoys travel and gardening.


Sara - Cardiology Nurse

heart Sara completed her nursing training in Bristol, England, qualifying in 1994 and nursed in a range of medical and surgical disciplines until specialising in cardiology in 1997.  Sara emigrated to New Zealand in 2003 and has experience in Coronary Care and  Cardiac Investigation Units in both private and public hospitals, in Auckland and in Bristol. She has completed a postgraduate certificate in clinical teaching, health assessment and cardiac nursing through the Auckland University Nursing School and joined the Auckland Heart Group in March 2012 working part time in the evenings.  During the day Sara looks after her two preschoolers.

Rose  - Cardiology Nurse

Rose completed her General and Obstetric nursing training in Zimbabwe in 1981 then went on to complete a Diploma in Midwifery at Mowbray Maternity Hospital in Capetown.  After marrying she worked on their cattle ranch and helped manage their Safari business.

Rose immigrated to New Zealand in 1998 and worked at Greenlane Hospital in the paediatric Cardiology Ward where she completed the Greenlane Paediatric Cardiology Course.  She then worked at North Shore Hospital in the Special Care Baby Unit and moved on to work in the Cardio Vascular Unit gaining experience with Angioplasty, Pacemaker and ICD insertion. 

Rose joined AHG in 2013 and work with various cardiologists doing ECG’s, Exercise Stress Testing and CT angiography clinics. 

She also worked with High Performance Sport New Zealand assisting with vaccinating and cardiac assessment of elite athletes.

Her interests include Floral Art, where she recently completed a diploma in Commercial Floristry, gardening, cooking, reading and swimming.  She lives on a lifestyle block and enjoy country walks with our two Boxers.

Trina - Cardiology Nurse
heart Trina was born in Zimbabwe and completed her general nursing training in Cape Town, South Africa. Her first    placement    as a new graduate nurse was in the coronary care unit and her interest in cardiac nursing dates from this time. After travelling and nursing overseas in the United Kingdom and Europe, she returned to Johannesburg, South Africa where she worked in cardiac intensive care and completed a post graduate course in Intensive Nursing Science, passing   with Honours.

Trina and her husband immigrated to New Zealand in 1988, and she worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Wakefield Hospital, Wellington for a number of years, while her three children were young. The family moved to Auckland in 2000, and for the last eight years Trina has been nursing at North Harbour Southern Cross Hospital.
Trina joined the Auckland Heart Group as a cardiac nurse in October 2008, working part time to fit around her part time work with North Harbour Southern Cross Hospital, her family and her hobbies, her dogs, tennis, photography and reading.

Yxuiang nurse
Yuxiang  - Cardiology Nurse
Yuxiang qualified as a Registered Nurse (RN)  in 1984 and completed a Diploma of Medicine in 1990  through part time study in China.  She worked as a staff nurse in Oman for nine years following twelve years of nursing practice in China. Yuxiang immigrated to New Zealand in 2004, completing a post-graduate Certificate of Health Science at the University of Auckland in cardiac nursing, evidence based nursing and health assessment.
Yuxiang is an experienced cardiology nurse. She has worked for thirty years in various areas including cardiology, neurosurgery and general surgery, Coronary Care Units (CCU), Accident and Emergency Departments and a Blood Bank.     She joined cardiology department of the Auckland City Hospital since 2005 and joined the Auckland Heart Group part time in July 2012.
